How it works

The 2025 consensus from four US scientific societies (ACLM, ASN, OMA, and The Obesity Society) says protein should be a priority on GLP-1 therapy. It suggests a practical target of 80–120 g a day and mentions 1.2–1.6 g per kilogram of body weight (about 0.54–0.73 g per pound).

Splitting the target into 3–5 small meals at regular times gives about 20–30 g per meal. That split is Bocado’s own math for designing the recipes, not a number from the consensus.

It is a general range for adults. Personalize it with your doctor or registered dietitian, especially if you have kidney disease or were given a different target.

FAQ

How much protein do I need a day on a GLP-1 medication?

The 2025 consensus from ACLM, ASN, OMA, and The Obesity Society suggests a practical target of 80–120 g of protein a day and mentions 1.2–1.6 g per kilogram of body weight. It is a general range: personalize it with your clinician.

How do I get enough protein when I’m barely hungry?

Split it into 3–5 small meals at regular times, about 20–30 g each, and start every meal with the protein. Foods with a lot of protein in a small volume help: skyr, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, fish, and tofu.

What can I eat on nausea days?

Small meals, eaten slowly, stopping when you feel full, and avoiding large or very fatty meals. Bocado’s nausea-day recipes follow that approach. If nausea doesn’t ease or you vomit, talk to your doctor.
